New COTS MIL-STD-1553 Dual Core Stacked Transformer Provides Board Designers with Small Footprint Alternative to Costly Competitive Products

Tuesday, July 29, 2003

Mission Viejo, CA (July 29, 2003) - Holt Integrated Circuits announced today the release of their new family of COTS MIL-STD-1553 interface transformers. As part of an alliance with Premier Magnetics, the PM-DB2740x, a family of dual core stacked transformers, is added to Holt’s MIL-STD-1553 product offerings, providing board designers with small footprint, cost effective, high quality alternatives to similar products on the market today.

Interface transformers are required in all MIL-STD-1553 data bus installations to couple the transceiver to the data bus. To address this requirement, where board space is a premium, the PM-DB2740x family places two transformers in a single, vertically stacked, small footprint configuration measuring only 0.625” x 0.625”.

The PM-DB2740x is available in a variety of models to provide a selection of turns ratios to meet most MIL-STD-1553 designers’ needs, and in many cases can be used as a COTS drop-in replacement for selected legacy transformers. Like all MIL-STD-1553 interface transformers offered by Holt, the transformers that are part of the PM-DB2740x family have an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C.

“With the PM-DB2740x release, Holt continues to build upon its commitment to provide its customers who design to meet today’s stringent high-reliability military avionics and stores requirements with high quality, small footprint alternatives” stated Sandy Edberg, Sales Director at Holt Integrated Circuits. “Our future in the MIL-STD-1553 market is exciting with continued new and innovative product offerings scheduled for release later this year.”

Along with the PM-DB2740x family, interface transformers with over sixty available package and turns ratio configurations are manufactured by Premier Magnetics and offered by Holt. These COTS (non-QPL) transformers are fully compatible with Holt’s complete line of MIL-STD-1553 data bus interface products.
