Analog Switch IC with 200°C Operating Temperature and Outside-the-Rails Switching Capability

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Mission Viejo, CA (August 29, 2013) – Holt Integrated Circuits today announced the release of a new Analog Switch product family capable of operating up to 200oC. The high operating temperature switches comprise two distinct groups of devices, HI-8200H and HI-8190H, offering identical functional characteristics and features as Holt’s existing analog switch products that operate within standard IC industrial and extended temperature ranges. The new devices target high temperature avionics and industrial applications like data bus isolation, distributed engine control and down-hole well drilling telemetry.

The HI-8200H family can switch +/−12V signals while operating with 3.0V to 5.5V logic control inputs. High voltage gate drive is generated on-chip, eliminating a control signal bias supply outside the logic supply rails. These devices exhibit open circuit when IC power is off, making them ideal for high temperature applications requiring low leakage in the power-off condition. Switch on-resistance (Ron) is 10 Ohms maximum across the entire switching range at 25oC.

The HI-8190H family is designed for bipolar rail-to-rail switching in the range of +/-3V to +/-15V, or single-ended switching from 0 to 15V. Like the HI-8200H, the HI-8190H operates with 3.0V to 5.5V logic control inputs, with high voltage gate drive generated on-chip. Switch on-resistance ranges from 12 to 15 Ohms, determined by the logic supply voltage.

Both families are ideal for applications that benefit from or require low charge injection, high isolation or low leakage, such as sample and hold circuits or instrumentation multiplexers.

“Holt offers numerous transceiver and switch products operating at 200oC,” said Anthony Murray, Director of Business Development at Holt. “These devices provide the same advanced features as Holt’s industrial and extended temperature products and ensure superior reliability and performance when operating in demanding high temperature environments.”

The HI-8200H and HI-8190H have four normally open (NO) switches, the HI-8201H and HI-8191H have four normally closed (NC) switches and the HI-8202H and HI-8192H have two NO and two NC switches.

Operation up to 200°C is specified in a 16-pin CERDIP package, whereas plastic package options specify operation up to 175°C.

Holt also offers 200°C CAN Transceivers and 200°C RS-485/422 Transceivers. To request information on Holt’s ARINC 429, CAN, MIL-STD-1553 and other product lines, readers may contact Holt at (949) 859-8800, by e-mail at info@holtic.com, or visit the Holt website at www.holtic.com.
